Archives dept digitises over 1.2cr pages of docus
Mysuru: For those who are curious to know about history or important historical events, one of the challenges is finding authentic documents. However, now many of these documents are made available in digital format which runs into over one crore pages.
Karnataka state archives department has digitised over 1.2 crore pages from its collection which can be accessed online.

According to officials of the department, the 1.2 crore digitised pages are just 30% of the documents available with them. The remaining 70% of the documents are yet to be digitalised, they said.
The documents available at the Mysuru divisional archives office were classified into six categories according to the convenience of government offices, organisations, researchers, and the general public. These six categories include unpublished records, published records, private records, library books, files, and oral historical documents.
According to HL Manjunatha, senior assistant director, divisional archives office, Mysuru, over 10,000 files related to the day-to-day administration of various departments of Mysuru Palace have been categorised and put up online under ‘unpublished records’. These records are in Kannada and English languages. These records are related to correspondences, account books, diaries, donations, inams given by royal family to religious institutions, itinerary of rulers, various pilgrimages they undertook, the details of rituals observed by the Mysuru royal family, marriage invitations, Dasara celebrations, domestic and foreign guests, information related to construction of various buildings and their repair.

Manjunath informed that the Mysore Gazette published during 1867-1963 and 1986-2015 are digitalised. Besides, census reports, (1799-1981), various manuals, details related to farming, land revenue, minutes of revenue department meetings were also published.
“Digitisation of documents is a continuous process. Every year, we carry out this exercise. Now it has reached 1.2 crore pages. Anyone can access our digitised documents from any part of the world,” he explained.

Most documents submitted by Ajit group bogus, argues Sharad Pawar faction before ECI
Appearing for the Sharad Pawar faction, Abhishek Manu Singhvi told the Election Commission of India that most of the documents submitted by the Ajit Pawar faction were bogus. The Ajit Pawar group argued that the Sharad Pawar faction has been making the same submissions to delay proceedings. The dispute between the rival factions of the NCP over the party name and symbol was adjourned to Friday. The Ajit Pawar faction claimed to represent the real NCP, while the Sharad Pawar faction argued against Ajit Pawar's claim.
